Session 5 - Rage to Learn

What barbarian doesn’t love to rage every once in a while? Okay, fair enough, it’s kind of their whole thing. An automatic angry button for them to go HULK-mode and do what needs to get done. With the obstacle squashed, bashed, and done with, they can go back to their normal barbarian selves.

What about rage for the rest of us?

Anger and rage are considered to be a “negative” emotion, but it doesn’t have to be. Anger is complex. Yes, it can have a negative impact on our relationships with others, but often anger is overlooked as a source of personal wisdom and power.

Your anger can show you a future that you can make possible if you listen.

Most of the time when we are angry, we use it as a REACTION instead of a BONUS ACTION. By noticing our anger and connecting with it in a healthy way, we can start to use that anger as a fire starter to create something new.

Let’s say that your boss makes an ignorant comment about a coworker you care for - something that makes your blood boil and you know deep in your heart is wrong. You can yell at them, throw a chair (#ImprovisedWeapon), or stew in frustration until it's your next turn.

OR, you can listen to your anger and strike up a conversation.

  • What sparked your anger?

  • What truth has been violated?

  • What do you feel called to protect at this moment?

  • What should the world look like instead?

After a quick chat, you’d be surprised that there are a new set of actions and resources available to you – each of which will bring you closer to righting a wrong and building the world you want to see.

Congrats! You’ve now turned a reaction into a response. #RageToLearn

Feeling your anger does not mean that you are a bad person or that you should pursue a path of violence. It means that you’re a human on this earth and you’ve got some deeper work to do.

And that’s what this week is all about.

Let's RAGE!

Sincerely,

Autumn & Jerod
